Hey ladies! Welcome to day 2 of the week 1 of our series:

____ is a three week series where we learn tips, techniques, and points for our goal of transformation and renewal. We have three weeks to work on ourselves so we can start off feeling revived and refreshed to take on new projects, businesses, and plans that we may have in the second half of 2018 and the new school year. Ultimately our aim is to pour into ourselves, so we can better pour into others. For us women, we often put self care on the bottom of our to-do list after performing our wifey duties, taking care of our children, running our homes, being the president of the PTA, having 5 businesses and ministries, and taking over the world. No wonder we get burnt out and we are tired all the time! Self care needs to be at the top. How can we be better moms, teachers, managers, leaders, or women if we do not take care of the women in the mirror?

 

Meditation

Welcome back ladies! I hope you are all enjoying your first week of getting your spirituality on. How do you feel? Hopeful? Happy?

 

Today we are focusing on meditation, as part two of our soul transformation. Slow down and take a deep breath. Relax. Inhale. Exhale. Repeat. Now that you are relaxed…let’s begin to meditate on our dive into meditation.

 

Meditation is the act of “thinking deeply or focusing one’s mind for a period of time, in silence or with the aid of chanting, for religious or spiritual purposes or as a method of relaxation” (Oxford Dictionary). To reflect is to meditate. To think, contemplate, and consider are forms of meditation as well.

 

“I am depressed. My life is falling apart. Things are hopeless!!”

 

The thoughts in our head and what we think of are important. Those thoughts dictate how we behave. Those thoughts dictate how we feel. It is so vital to think good, positive, uplifting thoughts. When you meditate and think of negative slander against yourself, you are creating a world of hopelessness. To meditate and consider the mean words people say to you, you are creating a world of insecurity. Stressing out is meditating on everything going wrong. Thinking negatively will have you start behaving negatively. You WON’T go further with your passions. You WON’T try out that new class. You WON’T even speak up about causes you care about! It is because you are listening to that ugly chatter in your brain telling you that you are not worthy. Instead, let’s begin meditating and being grateful on things that are going right! Trust, we will feel a lot better.

 

Personally I meditate on scripture verses from the Bible. God’s Word is what keeps me going. I meditate on it day and night (Psalm 1:2). His Word cheers me up, makes me feel loved, motivates me, inspires me, and comforts me. The Word reminds me that things will be OK. I then start to relax. I breathe normally again. I let go. And I am happy despite any chaos that is going on around me.

 

In the mornings, when you first wake up, start to meditate. Keep a list of affirmations, positive quotes, or bible scripture, and start to repeat them over and over again. Slow down and dissect the phrase and apply it to your daily life. What do you need to trust God about? Where in the workplace do you need to have more courage? Think about that and remember to trust Him and that you are courageous. To be victorious over our day, means being able to grab that list and leave it various places at our job or in our car, so whenever we are down, we can always refer to the list and be lifted back up. Keep meditating whenever you need to.

 

Focus and dwell on favorable thoughts. Thoughts that are helpful, good, and lovely  (Philippians 4:8). Us ladies got no time for negativity!! We have things to do, people to see, and places to go. Grab those thoughts of insecurity, of hopelessness, of envy, bitterness, and greed, and throw them away forever. These thoughts slow us down, make us weak, and destroy us. Start meditating on encouraging affirmations, Bible scripture, and anything you can find that is positive; and begin to see how your entire life (yes, your family, your marriage, your career, your passions, etc.) changes for the better.

Going green?! What’s that ?

Well since you are probably wondering why I am writing about going green it is because of the outrageous us of plastic and processed food. I’ve always been a fan of cutting up the rings that hold the soda cans together because of the fear that it could be swept out in the ocean. Yall when i was a little kid I was really impressionable and I still hold to the values from when I was younger.

So last month I did a blog post on,” Spring time Fun With My Toddler”(insert link). In the post I wrote about Mariah and I starting a garden. Growing up my dad taught me to grow my own food and we somewhat lived off of the land. A course I did not eat the animals that we raised because they were all given an adorable nickname; such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. Believe me when I say this that was the names of our pet goats. We even had the joys of eating fresh farm eggs every morning.

 

So yeah! Back to going green, I’ve been inspired to create so sort of small garden on my porch. I want this garden to be free of pesticides and being chemically made. When I say I want something that is not made of plastic but  of a seed and soil. Corporate farmers have gotten away from producing food that is good for us and is developing something that is quick for them to modify. Even the meat we eat is pumped with steroids and people wonder why they are sick and or the obesity rate is so high. It is important to be aware of what is going into our body.

 

No, I am not a vegan or vegetarian but I have tried the lifestyle for one week and it was actually rewarding. I combined my eating plan with my love for yoga and I was actually able to tone my body and have more energy. I am not pushing veganism on you or anything I just want you to be aware of what we consume on a daily basis.

 

Here are a few ways that I decided to go green:

 

Planting a garden

Growing your own garden has so many benefits such as, you have the convenience of staying home and picking your fruits and veggies. I do still support my local farmers market especially if I am not able to grow everything at home.  Think about the how much gas money you can save my staying home. It even makes meal planning easier and everything taste much fresher. Plus if you get better at growing a garden you can consider selling or giving your produce to friends and family. Growing plants is also beneficial to the Bees, people don’t really understand the importance of bees. Bees help our food and flowers grow, yay Bees!!! (Buzzz)

Reusable Grocery Bags

Y’all I’m not going to lie when I see a cute reusable bag you would have thought I just bought the cutest Louis Vuitton Bag. I love to use them at my local Publix or Aldi’s grocery store. If you think about it you don’t have to stress about your bag ripping when you are walking into the house. Believe me, been there!

 

Coffee Cups

I love love coffee! I know that we all have notice the reusable cups at the gas station or even your favorite coffee shop. Consider if the establishment offers reusable cups, then I would jump on it. Even making coffee from the comforts of your own home can still be cost effective and green.

 

Natural Cleaning Supplies

When I say the house doesn’t smell like harsh bleach, it is really refreshing! Can you imagine the dangers that a child may encountering when we use harsh chemicals. You can get so much done with just vinegar or some sort of essential oil blend.

Favorite Essential Oil Blend:

1 Cup of White Vinegar

1 Cup of Water

3 Drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil

3 Drops of Lemon Essential Oil

How to make :Delicious Sea Salt Roasted Pistachio Butter

The things that we do for love, when I say I love my husband I really mean it. Especially in the sense of breaking a few finger nails. My husband’s favorite snack is Pistachios and I mean he eats these things every day! Well,  he wanted to switch up from Almond butter to Pistachio butter, but we could never find it in the stores so I took it upon myself to go to Pinterest and a little guess work and made my own.

Roasted Pistachio Butter

what you need:

1 lb Pistachios(shelled or unshelled)/(fresh or roasted)

2 tsp Honey

1 tsp Coconut Oil (optional)

1 Dash Cinnamon

1/2 Cup of Water

***Suggestion: Store in the refrigerator for longer shelf life

 Instructions:

  1. Remove the shells from the pistachios and put them into a food processor. Blend for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Add 1/2 cup of water to the processed pistachios, then add 2 tsp of honey and the 1 tsp of coconut oil (optional)
  3. Then you add a dash of cinnamon into the mix, blend.

Finally, you are finished! You can store the Pistachio butter in a plastic container or a mason jar.

This is an excellent recipe to apply to making any nut butter, Good Luck!!!
