Becoming Bilingual

Since moving moving to south Florida, I felt that it was extremely important to teach my toddler Spanish. I love to expose my toddler to various cultures because it is important to learn about diversity.

I studied Spanish in high school and college, when it comes to advancement it is important to meet the needs of prospective clients, traveling and so much more. While teaching my toddler Spanish I also expose her to the culture through the food and encouraging her teacher and friends to speak to her in Spanish.  When teaching Mariah Spanish I lean more towards numbers and greetings. I have noticed that she responds well to when someone is speaking to her in Spanish, it may be that she is reading their body language, but repetitiveness is essential to learning a new language and culture.

Tips to teaching your toddler

  1. Flash cards
  2. Pictures or showing the actual image of what is being taught
  3. Encourage your family and friends to learn a different and then every one would be open to learning something new.

Please let me know in the comments on how teaching your family a new language has worked for you!
